Academy Award (R) winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces Unbroken, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O‘Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII-only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Director Jolie began shooting some of the most dramatic and challenging scenes on Wednesday, October 16, on location far out at sea in Moreton Bay, Australia, with Zamperini (O‘Connell) and his fellow airmen-Phil (Domhnall Gleeson) and Mac (Finn Wittrock)-having impossibly survived being adrift in the open Pacific for several weeks. Working with cameras on a floating rig in choppy waters and braving the elements, with actors dieting for months to appear as depleted as their characters, Jolie completed a successful first day of a location shoot that promises to be rigorous and uniquely challenging. Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand‘s ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend") enormously popular book, Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini‘s unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit. Starring alongside O‘Connell, Gleeson and Wittrock are Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini‘s brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as "The Bird." The film is produced by Jolie, as well as Matthew Baer (City by the Sea), Erwin Stoff (The Day the Earth Stood Still) and Clayton Townsend (This Is 40). Leading the accomplished behind-the-scenes crew is 10-time Oscar (R)-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins (Skyfall). Academy Award (R) winners Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men) rewrote the screenplay from earlier drafts by William Nicholson (Les Miserables) and Richard LaGravenese (HBO‘s Behind the Candelabra)..

Comment For Unbroken Ver Peliculas Completas Gratis En Espanol

Name : Wesley Morris / Alias : Grantland
All the movie's tension comes down to whether Zamperini can withstand Watanabe's abuse, which is probably when it's helpful to forget the title.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
As a castaway story, a historical drama and a portrait of an Olympian turned soldier, "Unbroken" is a touching and important work.

Name : Lindsey Bahr / Alias : Associated Press
Jolie hasn't done a disservice to Zamperini's life, but it's hard to know what she was trying to tell. It's Zamperini's story in fact and circumstance, but somehow, he feels like an enigma.

Name : Rex Reed / Alias : New York Observer
One of the finest achievements of the 2014 film year.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
This passion project for Angelina Jolie shines with her abiding love for Louis Zamperini and his courage under fire. In honoring Louis' endurance, she does herself proud.

Name : Kyle Smith / Alias : New York Post
More a series of similar events than a story, and lacks an underlying message except that torture hurts.

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
What the movie ends up in desperate need of is a sense of life made real and palpable through dreadful, transporting details, not a life embalmed in hagiographic awe.

Name : Cary Darling / Alias : Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com
If nothing else, it's certainly better than the last time a good-looking Hollywood star decided to direct a movie about WWII. But the less said about George Clooney's The Monuments Men, the better .

Name : David Hiltbrand / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
Unbroken is a fitting title for this excruciating cinematic treatment of the flyboy's ordeal. It plays like an endless, unrelieved gauntlet of suffering, an onslaught untempered by grace or redemption.

Name : Amy Nicholson / Alias : L.A. Weekly
Jolie is more fixated on gore than grace. In making us feel every crushing blow - the better to burnish her reputation as a serious director - we're shortchanged on the beauty of Zamperini's story

Name : Joe Neumaier / Alias : New York Daily News
This great, tough-skinned movie can stand with the muscular action dramas that are a crucial part of American movie canon.

Name : Kenneth Turan / Alias : Los Angeles Times
Despite its many impressive elements, "Unbroken" plays incomplete and unbalanced.

Name : Richard Roeper / Alias : Richard Roeper.com
In a well-made, but one-note film.

Name : Andrew O'Hehir / Alias : Salon.com
"Unbroken" is a rousing old-fashioned yarn with numerous exciting set-pieces and an uncomplicated hero you root for all the way through. It's entertaining throughout and made with a high level of technical skill.

Name : J. R. Jones / Alias : Chicago Reader
A straightforward and entirely commendable story about the triumph of the human spirit, etc.

Name : Mick LaSalle / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
A good 45 minutes of the movie consists of showing Louis getting beaten up, then healing; getting beaten up, then healing, over and over.

Name : David Edelstein / Alias : New York Magazine/Vulture
Jolie gets the dirty/ennobling job done.

Name : Todd McCarthy / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
This will be a tough film for some to take. But it also has strong appeal as an extraordinary survival story, and Laura Hillenbrand's first-rate book that inspired it has not been on the best-seller lists for four years for nothing.

Name : Bill Goodykoontz / Alias : Arizona Republic
It is a harrowing journey, and an inspirational one. But, as director, Jolie takes far too long to tell it, particularly in such a conventional manner.

Name : Ty Burr / Alias : Boston Globe
"Unbroken" stirs a moviegoer by default; it's an astounding story of human endurance that has been brought a little too safely to the screen.

Name : Alonso Duralde / Alias : TheWrap
The film boasts both sheen and efficiency without always delivering an equivalent emotional impact. It's easier to be awed or impressed by it than moved.

Name : Claudia Puig / Alias : USA Today
Though O'Connell's vulnerable lead performance is terrific, Unbroken's unrestrained hero worship undermines the story.

Name : Liam Lacey / Alias : Globe and Mail
A beautifully shot, well-acted, and worthy-to-a-fault Second World War survivor story that only intermittently achieves the kind of emotional impact for which it aims.

Name : Connie Ogle / Alias : Miami Herald
The bigger problem is that neither Jolie nor the script bothers to flesh Louis out as a fully formed person with faults and fears and regrets, which keeps the film from ever capturing you emotionally.

Name : Justin Chang / Alias : Variety
A bit embalmed in its own nobility, it's an extraordinary story told in dutiful, unexceptional terms, the passionate commitment of all involved rarely achieving gut-level impact.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
Handsome, alert and intensely focused, little-known English actor Jack O'Connell is a fine choice as Louis. And Japanese pop star Takamasa "Miyavi" Ishihara shines as "The Bird,' Louis' sadistic captor and war criminal in training.

Name : Michael O'Sullivan / Alias : Washington Post
The truest testament to the film's strength is the degree to which it all but achieves greatness.

Name : Joe Williams / Alias : St. Louis Post-Dispatch
If you can take it, "Unbroken" will lift you like the classics of adventure cinema.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
"Unbroken" makes for a grueling experience, which is not quite the same as a memorable one.

Name : Randy Myers / Alias : San Jose Mercury News
Given its subject, it should have been great, but it turns out to be simply good.

Name : Chris Nashawaty / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
It's moving, admirable, and occasionally exhilarating. What it's missing is the one thing that could always be counted on with Jolie as a star: the spark of danger.

Name : Keith Uhlich / Alias : AV Club
Though Jolie is shooting for Christ-like passion and redemption, she only ends up slathering one man's very real, very morbid struggles in the usual reductive "greatest generation" sentiment.

Name : Moira MacDonald / Alias : Seattle Times
You find yourself happy that this film exists, but wishing it were better.

Name : Joe Morgenstern / Alias : Wall Street Journal
A tale of endurance, "Unbroken" takes endurance to sit through.

Name : David Denby / Alias : New Yorker
An interminable, redundant, unnecessary epic devoted to suffering, suffering, suffering.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
Well-crafted and compelling, but director Angelina Jolie's best contribution was casting the unknown Miyavi in a pivotal role.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
For Jolie, it's all about the suffering, without much meaning.

Name : Peter Rainer / Alias : Christian Science Monitor
Zamperini's life story is genuinely inspirational, but the movie seems fashioned as a standard-issue profile in courage.

Name : James Berardinelli / Alias : ReelViews
There's a lot to like about the movie. Its presentation is straightforward, chronicling Zamperini's amazing tale without flinching.

Name : Cath Clarke / Alias : Time Out
Angelina Jolie's film as a director is a gorgeously shot and hardhitting old-school war drama - but still somehow fails to get under its subject's skin.

Name : Richard Corliss / Alias : TIME Magazine
Jolie has made a grand, solid movie of the Zamperini story, but O'Connell is the part of Unbroken that was truly worth the wait.

Name : Colin Covert / Alias : Minneapolis Star Tribune
World-class gumption and an on-camera look that the pretty committee would applaud can't save a poorly executed comedy whose essential elements are dirty words and falling down.

Name : Jim Slotek / Alias : Toronto Sun
Well, they can't all be Bridesmaids.

Name : Moira MacDonald / Alias : Seattle Times
McCarthy's trademark blend of chipper likability and treble-voiced rage just isn't quite enough to carry things through.

Name : Brian Truitt / Alias : USA Today
A free-for-all of inappropriate language unsuitable for even the most crass boy's-club boardroom, The Boss can't quite decide if warming the heart or obliterating it with insults is the end goal.

Name : Peter Howell / Alias : Toronto Star
Did you ever think only male comics could obsess over infantile boob, crotch and sex jokes? The Boss will set you straight on that delusion, too.

Name : Richard Roeper / Alias : Chicago Sun-Times
It's just early April, but I have an early contender for the most loathsome, ill-advised, horrible executed, most spectacularly unfunny movie scene of the year.

Name : Mark Olsen / Alias : Los Angeles Times
It is hard to think of a movie squandering the opportunity of a perfectly timed cultural moment quite like "The Boss."

Name : Tom Russo / Alias : Boston Globe
The loosey-goosey fun might be a bit much at the finish, but it's still a laugh watching McCarthy try to get back on her feet.

Name : Jesse Hassenger / Alias : AV Club
A lot of The Boss works because Michelle Darnell is a funny character, and McCarthy is funny playing her.

Name : Jake Coyle / Alias : Associated Press
As in McCarthy's slipshod road movies Identity Thief and Tammy, the material here isn't on her level, the laughs are largely cheap and once again, the hall-of-fame comic actress is stuck in a minor-league movie.

Name : Adam Graham / Alias : Detroit News
"The Boss" never feels like more than a series of bawdy, R-rated sketches held together by bubble gum and masking tape.

Name : Melissa Anderson / Alias : Village Voice
The Boss gives its star few, if any, hitting partners. It's a baffling decision .

Name : Leah Pickett / Alias : Chicago Reader
Dinklage is awful as the foppish villain, and aside from one uproarious, ad-libbed riff, McCarthy seems to be on autopilot.

Name : Richard Brody / Alias : New Yorker
The movie is all too neat a package for McCarthy's exuberantly inventive comic artistry.

Name : Peter Travers / Alias : Rolling Stone
McCarthy is a national slapstick treasure, but The Boss is a weak-kneed comedy that would topple without her.

Name : Ann Hornaday / Alias : Washington Post
Although her charisma is still undeniable, there's also no denying that McCarthy is capable of much more than she's allowing herself to do here. There comes a point when every force of nature starts to look just plain forced.

Name : Mara Reinstein / Alias : Us Weekly
The gifted Melissa McCarthy has spent the bulk of her post-Bridesmaids career elevating so-so material. Add this raunchy comedy to the pile of mediocrity.

Name : Molly Eichel / Alias : Philadelphia Inquirer
McCarthy is such a comedic powerhouse that she can play Michelle with incredible physicality and slapstick while also imbuing the character with wit, cunning, and even ruthlessness.

Name : Stephen Whitty / Alias : Newark Star-Ledger
McCarthy is great - foul-mouthed, funny and fierce. And for those of us who suffered painfully (yet hopefully) through things like "Identity Thief," the movie feels like a healthy step forward.

Name : Rafer Guzman / Alias : Newsday
A hit-and-miss comedy, but McCarthy leads a game cast through several memorable moments.

Name : Dan Callahan / Alias : TheWrap
It isn't comedy, and it isn't drama, much less comedy-drama.

Name : Frank Scheck / Alias : Hollywood Reporter
The Boss feels like an elongated sketch.

Name : Manohla Dargis / Alias : New York Times
Sometimes it's pleasurable enough just watching the most unlikely American comedy star since Bill Murray slip into a groove.

Name : Joe Dziemianowicz / Alias : New York Daily News
"The Boss" doesn't work.

Name : Brad Wheeler / Alias : Globe and Mail
This is a lazy Melissa McCarthy vehicle that relies on relentless potty-mouth moments - it's so funny when otherwise decorous characters continually do the vulgar! - and the pratfall comedy of McCarthy.

Name : David Lewis / Alias : San Francisco Chronicle
"The Boss'' provides the talented Melissa McCarthy plenty of scenery to comically chew on - she is very funny at times - but the story is paper-thin, and the script gives much of the supporting cast the proverbial pink slip.

Name : Andrew Lapin / Alias : NPR
Nothing in the storyline, direction or character types is remotely fresh.

Name : Will Leitch / Alias : The New Republic
By making McCarthy the center of every scene without giving her an actual character to play, Falcone and McCarthy require her to carry more weight that anyone possibly could.

Name : Barbara VanDenburgh / Alias : Arizona Republic
There are brief bursts of hilarity, and they are all, without exception, owed to McCarthy's innate charisma and comedic timing.

Name : Michael Phillips / Alias : Chicago Tribune
"The Boss" has zero finesse as a comedy. When Darnell crashes into a wall, or takes a tumble down the stairs, it's alarming and painful, as opposed to funny.

Name : Stephanie Zacharek / Alias : TIME Magazine
McCarthy deserves better than this. She can aim higher.

Name : Leah Greenblatt / Alias : Entertainment Weekly
A few moments are fantastically bonkers, but granting director duties to McCarthy's husband, Ben Falcone, feels more like an act of love than wisdom.

Name : Justin Chang / Alias : Variety
McCarthy remains one of the funniest actors alive - a truth that frequently rescues, but doesn't really redeem, this sloppy comedy .

Name : Sara Stewart / Alias : New York Post
McCarthy shines when loosely riffing, but the plot tightens around her like a vise.

Name : Peter Rainer / Alias : Christian Science Monitor
I persist in believing that Melissa McCarthy is capable of starring in a movie that not only makes a scads of money but is - you know - good. The latest refutation of my belief is The Boss.

Name : Joshua Rothkopf / Alias : Time Out
Even though The Boss is co-written by McCarthy and her husband, director Ben Falcone (who should know his wife's strengths better), the film often strands its title character in shrill one-note caricature, mostly unchallenged.
